Things To Do
Visit the Millicent Living History Museum, which tells the story of Millicent town and district from pre-settlement times. It includes a shipwreck room, large machinery shed, beautiful costumes and arguably the best collection of horse drawn vehicles in Australia.
The wheelchair-accessible Tantanoola Caves comprise an extraordinary display of cave decorations in beautiful shades of pink and brown, coloured by its dolomite base rock. A knowledgeable guide welcomes you upon arrival and introduces you to the history and geology of the caves, and then leaves you to stroll through the large cavern at your leisure. Above ground, take advantage of the picturesque picnic grounds and the cliff-top walking trail, which offers panoramic views of the surrounding district.
Discover a spectacular coastline of cliffs and long stretches of surf beaches in Canunda National Park. It offers great opportunities to enjoy bushwalking, observe local birdlife, surf the waves or snorkel among the fish. Four wheel driving is possible here, and there are more 4x4 tracks around Millicent, which you can navigate with the detailed mud maps.
If you prefer walking, discover the walking trails in the area where the 135 spectacular wind turbines can be viewed, as part of the largest wind farm development in the southern hemisphere.
Take a stroll into town and browse the local shops or have a bite to eat at one of the many wonderful eateries around town.
We are centrally located if you wish to visit the surrounding towns of Southend, Beachport, Mt Gambier, Penola and Robe.
