Things To Do

Geraldton is one of the top fishing and water sport destinations in Australia. It also becomes the gateway to wildflower country from July until October, as hundreds of vivid colourful blooming varieties stretch as far as the eye can see.

Geraldton has a rich heritage, made up of Indigenous, maritime and Spanish missionary history. Learn about the ancient Yamaji culture, or step inside the Western Australian Museum to discover the relics of shipwrecks. Visit the magnificent HMAS Sydney II memorial to remember the crew members lost in WWII, or admire the awe-inspiring architectural work of Monsignor John Hawes at St Francis Xavier Cathedral.

There are a range of museums to suit all tastes, as well as a bustling foreshore that offers shopping, dining and lively entertainment. In addition, Geraldton hosts a variety of markets, including the Saturday Farmers Markets and Sunday Railway Markets. Further South East there is the Walkaway Market as notified.

Batavia Coast Miniature Railway is a Monthly Event for young and Old alike.

The Chapman River Friends conduct regular seasonal Bush Walks. There is Cinema with restaurant if you like to keep up with the latest Movies.  Friends of Queens Park Theatre put on Pizza wine and Film nights and Geraldton has an Art Gallery if you enjoy some Culture.

Well worth a visit in the nearby Chapman Valley District. There is a wonderful Historical Museum at Nanson, a Fishing Park at Nabawa, and just to the North Oakabella homestead. For Foodies – pay a visit to The Lavender Farm on Chapman Road and the Burnt Barrel Bar and Smokehouse out in the Valley.

Drummond Cove Holiday park is situated in Chapman Valley, which is host to the lavender farm, with its restaurant and Copper Head Distillery, with a range of liquors. Chapman Valley Museum at Nanson is a great place to discover the history of the area. You can also enjoy a great time at the Chapman Valley Fishing Park and catch fish, cook it on a BBQ and sample their local oils and seasonings.
